sydney travel diary

Say hello to the first car D and I have bought together. It's a 1965 Austin Healey Sprite, a gorgeous if not completely impractical choice. We had been looking at buying a twin cab ute (for D's work needs) or a Subaru Forrester (a happy compromise between work and home) and decided on a vintage sports car (one that needs some work). Buying the Healey topped off a brilliant weekend that effectively started on Friday with a photo shoot for Real Living. I am writing a Sydney travel diary for the mag and D and I were rushing around the city with photographer Nick Bowers and his assistant Gunther. It was a great day but hectic and incredibly filling - we ate so much food: breakfast at the Yellow Bistro, Potts Point, morning tea at The Bourke Street Bakery, lunch at North Bondi Italian and dinner at Longrain, Surry Hills. It was not only our stomachs that were given the five-star treatment. We also slept for two nights at The Establishment Hotel in the penthouse. This morning Amanda, Jason and baby Alistair joined us for a slap-up breakfast delivered via room service into our room. Monday morning is going to be such an anti-climax.
