melbourne

It's been a strange couple of weeks filled with many highs and a few lows. On the upside D and I finally travelled south to Melbourne after talking about it since we first arrived back from London three-and-a-half-years ago. Well, it was worth the wait, even with the incredibly cold weather we had down there. I am writing a travel article about Melbourne so we made an extra special effort to try out lots of eateries and travel all over town. Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, remains my favourite spot to visit. We also had a great experience doing the Walk to Art tour, and managed to buy a glasswork direct from an artist. On the downside, I returned to Sydney to get a bout of gastro. I couldn't even keep water down. I thought it might have been food poisoning but in retrospective I've since learnt that a bug has been going around. Just as I'd recovered from that I learnt I had to go to hospital for unexpected surgergy. Not a pleasant procedure, either, let me assure you. Then to top the week off, I chipped a tooth on Saturday morning. Oh well, life goes on.
